Bringing Early Music to Life in the Bluegrass
About Us
In 1977, Donna Boyd founded The Center for Old Music in the New World with one purpose in mind: to promote the continued vitality of early music in the Bluegrass. To that end, its members have presented dozens of performances featuring composers hailing from antiquity to the Baroque period for almost 50 years. Our merry band of singers and instrumentalists form Musick's Company, and perform biannual concerts for the public.

What We Do
The Center for Old Music in the New World funds and organizes concerts that feature early music, performed by local vocalists and musicians from all walks of life. The aim of these concerts is to present authentic performances using instruments and vocal techniques used in the original works, and to educate the audience on the history and provenance of these works and the artists who created them. Because the Center is a non-profit organization, all of our work is funded through charitable donations, which go toward paying artists, maintaining instruments, and meeting other expenses. For this reason, we suggest a donation of $15 from audience members ($10 for students) when attending our concerts.
